Waste and its management is an emerging topic in this present scenario. All of us are concerned about how to manage waste because it creates many problems in our day to day life. With the increasing population of the earth and changing lifestyle, the waste is also raising at a higher pace. Sometimes for the ease of our lifestyle, we go for various luxury and we mostly prefer automated machines. It is the blessing of science that we are enjoying every facility at our doorstep but sometimes we become ignorant about its consequences. Many a time it creates waste which leads to many unpleasant situations in life. So all we need is to think about 3Rโs, those are reducing, recycling and reusing the effluents.

We know the food we are consuming is a purified form. It becomes edible after going through the various processes and finally reaches to the consumer. But what we do with the effluent that we get at every step of the processing. We generally throw it out or bury it in soil. As we know the food is a natural product and it consists of a various organic compound. The compounds naturally degrade and gradually convert into compost which takes many days. What if, we can convert the food waste into fertilizer in few minutes and can use it for nourishing plants? How wonderful would it be if we d0nt need to throw the food waste out and can recycle it at our home?
A research show that an average family produces 400 pounds of food waste per year. Which covers 20% of earth surface and also lead to the release of greenhouse gasses such as methane, carbon dioxide.

So the thought of recycling and reusing food waste lead to the invention of food recycler. An automated machine which can convert all the residues of food into fertilizer in one go. The waste of today is the food for plant tomorrow. Since it is an eco-friendly technology, it reduces the harmful effect of wastes. It is an innovation by Zera which has been awarded as the best innovation of the year.
HOW IT WORKS
The Zera food recycler is a fully automatic machine. All we need is to put our food waste into the machine at the end of the day. It has blades inside it which are attached to a centrally present shaft. When it operates, the blades rotate at higher rpm and break down the waste into small parts. The steps are summarized as follows,
STEP 1: At first insert food waste including all type of food which may be of plant or animal origin.
STEP 2: The system starts by power on. The breakdown and sterilization of the waste occur because it operates at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
STEP 3: The machine stops automatically which indicates the end of the process. It takes approx 3hours to 24 hours based on its capacity.
STEP 4: Finally the manure is ready. We need to draw the collected compost from the bottom of the setup and use it for nourishing plants.
It has carbon filters which purify the air and prevent the mixing of air. Which makes it an odorless food waste cycle. It reduces waste by 90% and does not require any draining and ventilation system. Neither any additive to facilitate the process.

By the end of the process, we are left with a nutrient rich manure which is the best food for plant growth. All the component from food is managed in an efficient way that these are easily available for plant take up. In addition to, it also process the food waste in a smart way that it do not impact our lives. Most noteworthy part of it is it uses less energy. The average electricity use is 5 dollar per month. It seems like an easy and best solution to reduce waste and go green. Another aspect of this machine is its compatibility. It fits in any place and easy to handle.
Hence it a solution to the emerging problem of waste and its management. Furthermore, it is a revolutionary idea to save the world from pollution. We can show our contribution to it by converting food waste to manure at home level.
